The Accidentals are a female-fronted indie folk-punk band, combining Americana lyrics, pop melodies, and punk energy. Multi-instrumentalists, Katie Larson, Sav Buist, and Michael Dause tour 200+ shows a year and Pop Matters calls them "one of the best live performances you might see in a lifetime". NPR says they are "some of the most compelling songwriters of our time" and Texas Lifestyle magazine called them "young, powerful, and undaunted".
Closer I Am To Fine (Indigo Girls cover)
I was introduced to this song when I was a kid in my family's band. It's one of the first songs I remember. The Indigo Girls are everything we hope to be. They're advocates for the earth, truth tellers, intelligent writers, and good humans. We started the Cover Art album to give a nod to the women that inspired us to be artists and the Indigo Girls were among the firsts to show us what was possible. For that we are eternally grateful for them.

Every year we play a couple concerts in the park in Michigan. It's important to us that young people have access to live concerts in a safe place. Sparta MI is one of those places. Dear accidentals, it’s been a while since I’ve dove into your stuff but it’s so nostalgic hearing this song, me, my dad and my two sisters always had days out together and my big sister always used to harmonize with this and my dad used to always fill in the bits without lyrics and it felt so right, I missed this, since then both sisters have moved out and everyone has gotten more busy but this song still radiates with me. Manhole is definitely one of my favorites on your Cover Art album, and this video doesn’t disappoint. I love the cuts to your various renditions of this song on your tours! Between this and the Midtown show I was at in late April, I can say for certain that your mastery of even such small stages with so much equipment to shuffle yourselves around is incredible, and you know how to keep the audience feeling involved during the songs. Those leans in and out during the musical interludes feel like you’re sharing a secret with the audience. I think that’s what I’ll remember best about the show I saw, long after I forget the sound of the actual performance itself. Keep doing what you do so well!
